The following are the results of the day's matches: — A Section. —Nelson 2 v. Canterbury 0; Wairarapa 1 v. Poverty Bay 0; Manawatu 2 v. Ota go 0; Taranaki n bye. B Section. —Canterbury A 3 v. Auckland 2; Buller 2 v. West Coast 0; Wanganui 0 v. Hawke's'Bay 4.; Wellington bye. Tho match between Wairarapa and Poverty Bay was specially k.ecn, and wa'i useful in showing how good hockey will prevail against superior size, weight and strength. Matters were very even all tho way, and tho contest from beginning to end was one of method and skill against strength, and less speed. It was touch ami go all tho while whether Poverty Bay would not score and make a draw. They tried very bard and often looked as though they would be able to i do it. However, scoring was not their strong point, and they may be congratulated upon not being beate.i by n bigge." margin.
