Tho Commonwealth statistician reports for 1911 an increase in popula-, tion of 143,624, which is a record. Tho births were 122,193, wJiich is a record birthrate, being 27.21 per thousand, the .highest for eleven years. Uligitemates were 7074, 5.79 per centum, the second lowest for ten years. The deaths were 47,869, 10.60 per thousand. The deaths under one year were 68.49 per thousand births,, the lowest record.
