MASTERTON FIRE BOARD
QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Mas-' terton Fire Board was held in Masferton yesterday afternoon. There were present —Messrs (_). N. C. Pragnell (chairman), J. P. Prentice, C. R. C. Robieson, 0. R. Smith, J. C. Ewington. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs R. J. Whit-e a»d J. M. Coradine. «
It was decided to support a petition promoted, by,,the New iPlymoufclu Fire Board for a reduction in the existing charges of telephones to fire boartfs. -A specification.'ior a.' motor gine was received from Inspector Hugo. It. was ..reported that in ac-. v cordhnco with the previous resoiutfon of the Board tenders had been invited in England for such motor: It was decided to increase the sal- I 1 ary of fhe custodian by five shillings a week. The Board decided to call for tenders for the concrete cover and manhole and stone pipe for'the fire well in Chapel Street/the : work'to be done under the supervision of Mr J. Prentice. ' 1 The matter of flood gates, indicator plates,and fire bell ringing was left to the local committee to attend to.
