AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL.

We heartily congratulate the citizens viio were respi>ii«i'Oie tor yesterday'*) meeting of delegates in Masrterton upon the happy outcome of the deliberations. After much wasted energy, muck needless bickering and superfluity of speech, Mr Robinson and his friends have unanimously adopted the recommendation made in these col, nmns that concentrated action should ,be taken in. the direction c*f procuring; for tho district an agricultural high school. Had they done this at the beginning, instead of floundering about among High Schools and school farms, they would have avoided qvju a lot of opposition and hostile criticism. ''Yesterday's meeting decided in favour of an. agricultural high school, and appointed a committee to further th? project. The first step to be token is to seek legislative power to enable the Education Board to disestablish the District High School. This power is apparently not given at present. Itwould he useless to seek a. High Schc-o' in the hope that when the legislator is forthcoming, it could be converted into an -agricultural high'.school. Neither the -Education- Board nor the Government would sanction such thing. Wo disagree with Mr in his contention that the Distvi- 1 High School should not be disestablished. It would be impossible f . maintain a District High School and •in agricultural high school simultaneously. » \\V believe that the people of the district require am agricultural •high school, and we shall use our best effort* to secure such an institution for them.
