THE MEAT WORKS EMPLOYEES.
It is very much to be regretted that a dispute should have arisen betewen the men employed at the Waingawa meat-works, and those who constitute the Meat Works Employees' Union. ft' would seem, however, that the Waihi experience has had si salutary effect upon a section of the workers. By coming under the Arbitration' Court, they admit that they prefer making themselves amenable to the law to being placed n.t the mercy of an irresponsible caucus. The Meat Employees Union, though not, as far as we can ascertain, identified with the. Labour Federation, is in sympathy with the methods of that organisation, and is, to this extent, to be regarded ns "dangerous" from » strike point of view. , If the men are well-advised,
they will accept an. award, aivd abide by it, in. preference to an agreement which is apparently not binding.
