Mrs R. J. Seddon is at present on a visit to Mrs-Card, senr.,, at teaiberston.
' Mr F. Brown, Government Poultry Expert, will bo in Masterton to-day. He will probably -give a demonstration in practical poultry-keeping be•foro ho leaves town.
Miss Stolla Williams, who has been employed in the Masterton telephone, -exchange for some years, left yesterday for Palmerston North, to which place she has been transferred.
Mr Robert Brown, a Tollemadie rc:.d, Eastings, died suddenly from heart failure aphis'residence on Monday, at the age of 55 years. Mr Brown was at one time an officer in the New Zealand railway service.
Dr Ewart, of Wellington, who came to Masterton last week to consult with local medicos in regard to tlie late Mr J. H. Pauling, became ill while here, and is now suffering from an acute attack of pneumonia. Yesterday's arrivals at the Club Masterton, include Messrs Winchester, Duncan, Bisley, Burgess, Dyer, Edmond (2), Harris, Jenkins, Stokes, Phelan, Parker and Roberstein.
News was received in Carterton yesterday from Suva of the death of Mr Frederick D'Arcy, youngest son of
the late Mr and Mrs T. C. D'Arcy, formerly of Masterton, and brother of Mrs J. D. Smith, of Carterton. The cause of death was blood poisoning.
A New Plymouth wire states that Mr J. P. Murphy, who for several years has been one of the guide the Hermitage, Mount Cook, has been appointed manager of the new hostelry on the northern slopes of Mt. Egmont. The house, which is almost completed, will be formally opened by his Excellency the Governor on October 4th.
