THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
The expected has happened. The Leg-
islative Council, which recently sentenced itself to dentil as a nominative body, lias obtained a reprieve by refusing to commit -the Bill which was t:> o;ive it the happy despatch. It will bo interesting to know what the Government. proposes doing in the, matter. Tt frill probably await developments. If the Council shows ti disposition to block the -measures sent to it from the .Lower House, a number ef new appointments will probably be made. Should the Policy Bills be favourably received, however, it is not likely that fresh appointments will be made until the Council has .h;c another opportunity of considering the Legislative Council Elections Bill. - ,
