HANSARD.
During the discussion of "the Estimates in the Ho\ise of Representatives on Tuesday, sever'd members expressed a desire to -see the pruning knife applied to various branches of the ■public service. When, however, tho publication of Hansard "was under re r view, tlie sfeiu-ftinters" rose as one ■inan rnd demanded that a larger number of copies of the "enquire within upon everything" be placed at the disposal of members. At the present time only seventy-five copies of the bright-coloured' political compendium are allowed each member. This number is, of course, totally' inadequate for the '"talkers" cf Parliament, and they want the country flooded with their oratory. lui the opinion of a great bulk of the people, the time has arrived wheiii Hansard should be wiped completely out of existence. In the first place it is not a complete record of the proceedings of 'Parliament. In the second place it i.s -supplied only to a few. In the third place it is a direct incentive to voluble Parliamentarians to waste the time of the country.
