BREACH OF AWARD

WELLINGTON, Last Night
At the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Dr McArthur, C. and A. Odlin, Ltd., were fined £3 on each of two charges of paying their employees Is per hour instead of Is 4|d per hour, as laid down in the Wellington carpenters and joiners award. The defence was that the breach had been committed in ignorance. The defendants had, agreed with the ..employees'. parents for an extension of the term of their apprenticeship. The Inspector of Awards pointed out that under- | rate worker's permits should, have I been obtained if less than the award (rates were to bo paid.
