THE THOMPSON-PAYNE SHIELD.

Masterton yesterday, arranged with Mr E. O. Jarrett the conditions under which tho Thompscn-Payne physical culture shield is to be competed io.v. The first competition is to take phce at the annual deinoustratibn'in' connection with the Physical Culture Association, to be held in 'Mastorton next month. Tho shield is to be competed for by teams of not less than lour boys, between the ages of twelve and seventeen, who shall, prior to the date of the competitions, have attended •"• primary school in tho Dominion for a period of not less than three years. It will become the sole property of any team winning fa two years in succession, or" three years at intervals, it is to be competed for under the rules of the N.Z. 1 hysieal Culture- Association, no entrance fee being charged. The shield will lehcld from year to year, or until it is won outright, by the principal of thewinning school. A silver medal, with gold centre, is to he presented to each boy Miv tho winning ream every yean. "
