A SILLY CANARD.

Somebody has boeu circulating a silly camard in reference to the newspaper press of Masterton. At a public meeting called by the Meat Workers' Union last night,, one of the speakers alleged that an official of the Wellington Farmers' Meat Company had stated that nothing could appear in the local (newspapers concerning the doings of the workers until it had been first perused by the Company. We will be pardoned for saying that we do not think any official of the Company would be silly enough to make such a statement. If lie did, wo can only say that, so far as this paper is concerned, the statement is without foundation in fact. "We. consult no person as to what we shall, or shall not publish in our column?.
