ATTITUDE OF BRITAIN
THE MINISTER'S MEMORANDUM.
(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'cock.) PEKING, August 31.
Sir John Jordan, British Minister at Peking, in his memorandum states that any attempt to re-establish Chinese authority in Tibet will be a violation of the Anglo-Chines© Treaty of 1906. Britain, ho says, fully recognises the Chinese suzerainty, and, disclaims any intention of interfering with the integrity of Tibet's administration. At the same time, Britain does not consent to the assertion that China lias a sovreignty over the State, and is enjoying an independent treaty with Briain.
The Chinese declare that the expedition which ig now engaged on the borders of Szechuan was never ordered, to Tibet.

NEW YORK, August 31
The United States does not intend to oppose Britain's action in forwarding a. note to China, demanding to be consulted before any action is taken in regard te Tibet. ',
