DUNEDIN, Last Night

A sensation was caused at Forbury Crescent, St, Clair, at Midday yesterday, the'cause being a shooting affray which took place at the residence of Robert Turner.

It appears John Turner had somo words with his father, Robert Turner, this morning, before going to work, the altercation being due to tho father having been out of employment for some time. The son ordered the father out of tho house and assaulted him, and then went away.

Tho father, incensed by his son's conduct, laid in wait for him when he came home, and shot him in the side. ])r Hindon was summoned, and ordered the removal of tho victim to the hospital, where it was found that, the injuries were of such a character aa to necessitate nn operation. Tho bullet had entered the left silo, a few inches below the armpit, and penetrated some of the organs.

The bullet was extracted. When it was discovered that theic was little hope for the young man's recovery, the police made arrangements to have his depositions taken, but this was out of the question, as he was in an unconscious condition.

Robert Franklyn Turner, an elder brother, said that he heard the report of a gun from the direction of the stable, and saw his brother fall; and then his father rushed out of the stable with, a gun in his hand. '.Ho had never seen the gun before. After tho perpetrating of the crime Turner ran to the street, where lie was met by a neighbour named Ross, who took the gun from him.

They then went to the South Dlined in police station, where Turri<?r gave himself up;, saying he had shot his' son in the arm. He denied subsequently any intention to kill his son. Percy Turner succumbed to injuries at 6.4f>p.m. Ho was employed.as a commercial traveller.
