A LEAGUE MATCH

NEW SOUTH. WALES V. TARANAKI.

NEW PLYMOUTH. Last Night

Heavy rain foil in 'the morning, but the weather cleared at noon for the League match. New South Wales v. Taranaki. ' The local men hold their own well during "the first half, although a lighter team ; but the superior condition of the visitors told its tale in the second spell, and the gaine resulted: New South Wales-24, Taranaki nil. The exhibition was not a good one of .the League game, there being an absence of the passing rushes for which the visitors are famous. A feature of the game was the fine tackling on both sides. The Taranaki forwards put up a ; good. display, but the backs suffered by comparison with the smartness of the Now South Welshmen. Considering the weather the attendance was good.
