MASTERTON-WAIPUKURAU RAILWAY
A QUESTION OF MONEY.
-'lt's all a question of money," said the .Minister of Public Works (the Hon W. EYaser) to a deputation representing the East Coast RailwayLeague. yesterday, that asked for a trial survey of the suggested loop line from Waipukur.au to via the coast route. The potentialities of the district, its fertility, both as a. pastoral- and an .agricultural country, and its nresent isolation wore a!i set out,in detail by various speakers, who told the. now familiar itory of the trials of tho backblocks settbrs. Tho Minister listened sympathetically, but pointed out that a line would probably cost a million of money. Ho promised to visit the district during ■the recess, and personally acquaint' himself with its possibilities. He added that his sympathies would always be with the settlers of the country.
