THE EAST COAST RAILWAY.
The Minister of Public Works gave precisely the answer to the deputation from the Mastorton-Waipukurau Railway League that we expected him to give. He said it was all a question of money, and that he would visit the district and enquire for himself. The construction of branch lines might well be left "to private enterprise. The continuation of the Gisborne to Wellington East Coast railway is a national concern.
