HOCKEY MANAGEMENT.
(To the Editor.)
I Sir, —Allow mo, through your valuable columns, to voice- the discontent and disgust at the management of hockey affair's appertaining to the Thompson-Payne Shield. The competition for this shield genera!! follows after the Wnirarapa Cup fixtures have.been completed. The second match for the shield was played last Thursday, when Excelsior defeated P. and T. (the holders). It now appears that the Excelsior Club refuse to continue the Shield .fixtures next Thursday, the only reason forthcoming being that they have a. dance in the evening, which will necessitate so;nof their men cutting up fruit, etc. in the afternoon for the supper at night. Surely the management of hockey affairs must have sunk to low levels when the fixtures of the Association can be postponed on account of a dance. Or is it tint they are waiting until a certain, team loses seme of its principal players before' they try conclusions with them.— l am etc A. TRUE SPORT. Masterton, Aug;ist/27, 1912.
