THE HIGH SCHOOL SCHEME

PROPOSED, CONFERENCE. A meeting of the High School Establishment Committee was held in Masterton yesterday afternoon. There were present: Mr H. C. Robinson, (Chairman), Rev. A. T. Thompson, 8.A., 8.D., Dr. Cook and Dr. CoWie. The Chairman explained that tho only reason the Committee had proceeded privately so far was that until they received the list of parents of children holding proficiency certificates for which they had written, there was nothing to bring before the public. The situation pice, however, had developed on rather different lines, and it was now advisnble that the public should know what tho Committee was doing. After discussion it was resolved to hold a conference on Wednesday afternoon, September 4th, in Murray's j Hall, of representatives from the variI ous School Committees in the neighi honrhood, representatives of the Mnpterton Trust Land Trustees and other local bodies. A. and P. Associations, and Farmers' Unions to consider the I matter of the establishment of a High School to provide courses of professional, commercial and rural training, and also the question of consolidating the present system of rural training obtaining at tho various -schools throughout the district on tho linos adopted in Marfan.
