NORTHERN APPROACH
THE END IN VIEW. The modified scheme drawn up by the Masterton County Council in accordance with a request from the Borough Council, was received at last night's meeting of the Borough Council. The position was to the effect that the sum of £633 was required to complete all work in connection with the bridges. Tlie Mayor said that lie was verypleased that the matter of the northern approach was nearing finality. He did not consider, however, that the Borough should bo asked > to forego completing the work at the town "end of the bridges, while a considerable sum was to be expended on kerbing and channelling at the northern end. He thought the County should pay half of the cost of work at the Borough end of the bridges, which required a good deal of work being done before being thoroughly 'presentable. The position now was that the Borough Council would rermiro to find about £270 to comply with the amended scheme of the County Council, and complete their owii end of the approach at a cost of something approaching £l2O. CV Ewington moved that the amended offpr of the County Council be accepted, and that be asljed that the Borough Council be allowed to retain the sum of £B7 now in hand for the completion of the work at the Boroutrh end of the approach. Cr Pragnell seconded the motion, which was carried.
