There was a large attendance at the Town Hall on Thursday evening, when the current programme of the Masterton Picture Company was submitted. The various film* again drew from the audience loud applause. Special interest was taken in the great star drama "The Carbonari," Inch is one of the finest films yet shown in Mastorton. This after-
noon, a splendid and up-to-date matinee programme has been arranged, and the children, who have come to regard the Town Hall matinesy as the entertainment of the week, are assured of an exceptionally enjoyable time. ' The ■series includes several highly amusing comedies of the class that always nppcaha to children, embracing such 'gem& as "Leah Learn;to Dance," a screamingly funny comic. Good healthy drama is provided in "The Cowboy's! Adventures," "The Smuggler's Wife," and "A Story of Old Times." Pa the Gazette, and "The Trianonis" arc highly interesting the latter a beautifully coloured picture. In the evening the adults will witness a unique programme of pictorial gems. The very
[latest in drama, scenery, comedy and educational films will be submitted. The star attraction-of the even in 2 is great military drama entitled "Won i Yet Lost." The plot is powerfully conceived, the situations being wonderfully realistic, the many thrilling episodes being intensely intercr-ting.. . The fascination of this high-grade photo-play holds o'.).e enthralled from i beginning to end, rawing the audience 1 to wonder whether they are witnessing a real life play. The remaining l films include many exceptionally bril- | bant productions by all the- best mak- ! civ;, and make up a programme of the very highest merit. Popular selections by the orchestra under the baton of Mr H. Times put the final touches to an excellent entertainment.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURE-
The. Foresters' Hall programme of pictures dro wanother good attendance last evening. The dramas are of such
high order, while the comedies r.vc so funny that those in search of a "high-clasr' entertainment should not fail to attend the last presentation of the programme to-night. "Dick Tin 1 -
pin" tells a thrilling story of the dashing highwayman of olden day?.', while "The Lesser Evil" is a stirring drama of smugglers.. "The Pasadena Peach" is one of those delightful comedies which is sure to find favour. "The Tragic Wedding" is a pathetic drama. Patrons are advised not to miss thi £> excellent programmp. Messrs Thompson and Payne announce, that the matinee at the Foresters' Hall r.t 2.30 this afternoon will prove a special treat for the children There is plenty of good rollicking fun, instruction, and enjoyment to he obtained from the programme which -will he presented.
GRAND SACRED CONCERT AT 8.30. i To-morrow evening a Sunday concert of -sacred mut'ic will be given by Mr Philip Newbury and Madame Emily Spada, assisted by local artists. Madame Spada has recovered, and lovers of oratorio music will be please'l to learn that this gifted lady, as well as Philip Newbury, will be heard in the principal solos that they will sing in the Oratorio Festival in Dunedin. Mr Philip Newbury will also shw. the popular sacred song "The Holy City," and join Madame Spada in the "miserere" from the church scene vi "II Trovatore." Tn> London the "Sunday League" arrange from 10 to 50 concerts every Sunday evening at which the leading artists of the day assist. To-morrow evening the concert will commence at R. 30. A portion of the proceeds will be devoted to the Mnsterton Hospital.
