FEEDER LINES.
It is very kind of tha Pahiatua and Dannevirke people to send a deputaton to Wellington- asking that lateral railway lines be constructed between Masterton and the Lower Taue.ru, and between Eketahuna <md Alfredtou. Masterton and Eketahuna are quite able to manage their own affairs, without the assistance of the northern townships. As it happens, neither Masterton .nor Eketahuna asks for a feeder line, and neither will touch it with a. fort? foot pole, as the saying goes. If Pahiatua and Dannevirke ire determined to make themselves ridiculous, by all means let them do so. But Masterton begs respectfully to be excu&ed. 'lt wants the East Coast Railway—nothing more, and nothing loss. And when it sends a deputation to Wellington, that deputation will be representative of tho whole ?ountry-side, and not of two or throe, designing townships.
