U SSENATOR CHAkQED CHEQUE FOII FIVE THOUSAND. (Received Last Night, 10.30 o'clock.) WASHINGTON, August 21. Allegations have been placed before the-Unit-fid States Senate accusing Senator Penrose of accepting a cheque for £SOOO from the general manager of the Standard Oil Company. M r Penrose is facing projbable impeachment. He promises to reply to all the attacks when the Senate permits him to do so.
