GOVERNMENT BLUNDERS.
Mr T. M. Wilford, the versatile member for tho Hutt, whoae foot appears to have got off the soft pedal, made a somewhat ludicrous speech in the House yesterday afternoon. Ho charged the Government with having already committed a number of serious blunders', and he proceeded to enumerate them. One of the blunders was that the Government had allowed fh<newspapers to publish articles to the effect that the Mount JVessing and Sherendcu estates had been purchased by the new Government, whereas the purchases were made by the Liberal Administration. Well, well! Is it possible that a Government could be guilty of such a heinous offence? Imagine Mr Massey permitting the .newspapers to publish whit they think fit! The thing is intolerable! Jf the Government does not immediately appoint a newspaper censor, the country will go to the dogs! But, really, Mr Wilford, why did you not keep your foot en that soft pedal ?
