A PROHIBITIONIST'S APPEAL.
In another part ol' Huts issue we publish a letter addressed ly Mr G. 15. Nicliolls, a well-known ense advocate of Now Zealand, to His M.ijesty the King, prior to the last iicCiisiriQ; pc:.ls. The presumption of Mr Niehollfi in addressing II if> Majesty on a subject which is of purely local interest,' is equalled only by the unworthy motive which prompted the communication. To ask His Majesty Ihe King to express an. opinion upon I. political question 'with the details of which he cannot H c .cognis-ant, to offer a deliberate inusuit to the Crown. The snub administered to Mr Nicholls will, it is hoped, have tlie effect of deterring thoughtless individuals from adopting such measures in the future.
