A WORD OF SYMPATHY.
"If there were no fools, {hero \vou;d be no fun." Thsso words—they are not Uvro.n's—should appeal to our evening contemporary, which has been, contributing a whirlwind of amusement for the delectation of the public of Masterton during the last few days. In its issue of yesterday, our quaint little friend abandons its humour, and shows a disposition ..to take itself, and the world I*ll general, very seriously. Which is unkind of it. After receiving a mild eastigation, administered with the .most benevolent motives, it cries aloud, "Oil, bo sore!" Well, our friend has our sincerest sympathy. But if wo might presume to prescribe a solatium we would advise it to abandon its Robinson Crtifoe excursions, and devote itcelf to further investigations cf tho Turkish situation, tho German peril, the Chinese revolution—and the Trust balance-sheet! A column a day con"ern:ng either of those subjects would ici; as a sedative to thoye who?-? nerves have been shattered by an J of-hiliritv, and would supply ' our friend with the stiff upper-lip hi? ) tsks for. 1
