TRAM CONDUCTOR'S DEATH

WELLINGTON, Last Night
A verdict respecting tho death of Conductor Ambrose McKay, who died from injuries received through falling from combination car 42 in Mariners Street on July 26th, was delivered by Dr A. McArthur, S.M., coroner, to-<lay. Dr. McArtluir said that deceased met his de.'.th through compression of the brain, due to hemorrhage, following on a fractured base of the skull. McKay accidentally fell from the car while in the execution of liiy duty, as -a. tram conductor. The duties of conductors necessarily entailed a certain amount of danger, but the coroner was of the opinion that some of the risks might he minimised, and he recommended t'Srious consideration of the matter to tho tramway authorities and Public Works Department.
