MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE
MONTHLY MEETING. Tlie monthly meeting of the Masterton School Committee was held last evening, there being present —Messrs 11. Brown (chairman), E. Pragnell, G. Hyde, Falconer, Kemp, D. Threadwell, J. Shaekleton, W. 1). Chapman. The treasurer's report was read and adopted, showing a credit balance of £155 18s Bd. A letter was received from the Wellington Education Board in reference to the appointment and transfer of teachers. It was decided that the letter be lccened. A letter was received from the secretary of the Masterton High School Establishment Committee asking for a return of scholars attending the Masterton District School, who have obtained proficiency certificates, and whose parents are entitled to express their intention of enrolling such children at a high school, which it is proposed to establish in Masterton, and also stating that the secretary will be pleased to hear from any member of the committee wishing to become members of the High School Establishment Committee. It was decided to refer the applicants to the Wellington Education Board, as the committee did not consider that the matter came within tb«*ir jurisdiction. The Education Board wrote stating that the vacancy for an assistant teacher at the Main School would be re-advertised, as no applications were received when the position was previously advertised.
