A DISCREDITABLE SCENE.
The scene enacted in the Hoiuk? of Representatives on Wednesday wight, during the debaje on the Elective Executive Bill, was discreditable alike to the principal actors as to the institution in which it occurred. It seems almost incredible that members, and ex-Ministers of the Crown at that, should so fir forget the dignity of their position as to indulge in recriminations of a most disgraceful character, and it is to be deplored that the Speaker did not consider it hi a duty to interpose and protect members from the-assault made upon their intelligence by ill-mannered and hottempered representatives. The Parliament of New Zeaiand has gained a reputation for its respectability, and the observance of those, traditions which have made British political institutions the envy of the world, and it is the more regrettable, therefore, that an .incident-should have been permitted in. our Legislative Clumber which threatens to imperil that excellent reputation.
