PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION.
It is significant that an, institution formed in Wellington.,-''and calling itself the "Proportional ltcrpesentatio-n League," has suggested that the Government should apply the principle as an experiment to die four cities of the Dominion. We suggest that the Government should lend itself to no sucb> absurd proposition. The cities of New Zealand. liad preferential voting unfT a few yeans back, when it. was wiped out at the request of the very class of.-men who now a&k that it be reinstated. . If proportiona'l representation, is to he adopted, it ■must he applied 'a-niwltaneously to every part of-.the Dominion.
