Mr Cfoleman Phillips is renewing his contention that the seat of Government should be (removed from Wellington to tlie Wairarapa. Few people have, perhaps, considered tins matter seriously; ibut when the subject is analysed lit will: be found to possess a great deal to recommend it. Wellington, 'by reason of its configuration, is- liability to damage by earthquake or assaulfifirom &ea, to :say nothing of the scarcity of land, is eminently amfitted to be the seat of Government. The Dominion has an opportunity mow of selecting another site, and it would he consulting tho 'best interests of the ipeople by setting up a Ctamaniia&ion to report upon the question.
