KAIPARORO.
The floods of last week were th© 'heaviest experienced in this district, for many yeare. During the 4-3 -houra ending at 9 a.m. on Wednesday their hinfall totalled -5J inches. Lou-lying Jiaaid in t3io vicinity of .he river was inundated, ,but as the soil is naturally porous, and therefore well-drain-ed, the isurpks water soon disappeared. No serious damage is reported. The School Committee is at present carrying out improvements to the school grounds,. Drains are being opened up, and the paths are being spread with & heavy rotating of gravel.
