It is true, nowover, that the Mormon Churc'b, or "Latter Day Saints," is among the number, and that it is conducting an active crusade amongst the Maoris. There can be no objection to thin, provided the -Missionaries do not trade upon the susceptibilities of the Natives in such a way as to impoverish them. There is 'reason for alarm, however, at the encroachment made by tlhe Mormons upon tin?" educational domain. The establishment of Mormon ,Schools and colleges for the Maoris' should be viewed with apprehension,. .and lit is the duly of the Legislature to exercise a rigid conrtol over these .institutions.
