Mr Arthur Henderson, Labour member for Durham, in an interview, attributed the result of the Hanley ©lection (in which Mr R. L. Quthwaite, Liberal, was returned) to a lack of labour organisation, and also a de- ] sire to keep the Unionist candidate '■ out. I
The seat was formerly held by Mr Enoch Edwards, a Labourite.
