The home side scored 289 in the first innings, and have lost one for 29 in the second.
The Australians were dismissed for 152 —Mayno 47, Jennings 7, Macartney 17, Bardsloy 4, Minnett 1, Kolleway 34, Gregory 0, Smith 3, Matthews 10, Whitty 3, Webster (not out) 20, sundries, 6. Rain necessitated early drawing of skimps.

The weather was dull and the wicket soft for the continuance of tjje match. Scotland declared their second innings closed for 126. Matthews took 7 wickets for 46, Macartnev 0 for 30 Whitty 0 for 12, Kelleway 0 for 25. Requiring 261 runs to win, An.;traliii had lost three wickets for 200 when stumps were drawn, -Jenning:; 23, Maync 85, Macartney 8, Bardsloy (not out) 70, Minnett (not out) 0. The game was drawn.
GENTLEMEN v. PLAYERS

LONDON, July 13. In riie Gentlemen v. Players match, the former iji their first innings made 366, and the latter 378. J. W. Hearne, playing for the Players, scored 123 not out.

In their match for the County championship, Yorkshire scored 543 against Kent. D. Denton was responsible for 221.
