AN UNJUSTIFIABLE STRIKE. MEN DUPED BY THEIR LEADERS (Received Last Night, 9.40 o'clock.) LONDON, July 12. Lord Devonport, Chairman of the Port of London Authority, has issued a statement, inwhich he says it is regrettable that the prevailing distress has ibeen largely caused through iho necessity of supplanting the strikers, who preferred without justification, io have good wages and fair treatmcih. It had never ,been alleged by any of the leaders of ithe men that the strike was in any way directed against tlie terms or conditions of employment under the Port of London Authority. The strike was, he says, a despotic attempt to coerce the workmen to accept the Transport Federation. The labour leaders were trifling with the situation. It would be better if the Bishops and others were to advise resumption,, and thus rescue the dupes from the unjustifiable action of their leaders. DOCKERS' RELIEF FUND. (Received Last Night, 9.40 o'clock.) LONDON, July 12. Mr Arthur Chamberlain, Chairman of Directors of the Kynock Ammunition Company, has contributed £IOOO to the dockers' relief fund.
