RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD
(By Telegraph—Press Association-)
WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Railway Appeal Board to-night considered the ease of Thos. Henry Stubbs, relieving officer for the Auckland district, who appealed against his dismissal. Appellant was acting stationmaster at Taupiri on May Sth, and the points were left open with the result that an engine and three wagons were derailed. Dr. McArthur, 3.M., President of the Board, considered that Stubbs was responsible as officer in charge of the station, but he was not satisfied that the punishment was commensurate with the offence. The Board considered that the case would be met by reducing the appellant one grade (from grade eight to nine), as they recognised that he was a capable officer.
