Tho annrlt.y meeting of the M.\s>iertor. Comity Cr.meil was held yesyorday afternoon, there being present Crs. W. J. Welch (chairman), D. W. Foreman, J. Miller, A. ,). Percy, H. O. Toogcod, A. Murray, C. C.*Kobbelli, It. F. It, Beotha.m, and D. J. Cameron.
The Eketahuna County Council demanded a sum of £5 for repairs to tho main; road.— Dealt with by the Finance Committee.
Mr J. A. Donald wrote, directing attention to the .state of the Mamaia 'Road drain, below his property.—Left with the representative of tho 'Riding, with the. engiineeir, to deati with.
A letter was read from Mr John Cross, jauir., of Alfredton, pointing out that he had not yet obtained a settlement in. regard to his claim for compensation over Wio Flat Bush road, and stating that um.loss satisfactory terms are at ence come to he will close the road, and before it is
re-opened iwill make a claim for comipenErttioav fo'r Ices, of water.— On tho motion of Cr Kebbell, seconded by Or Muiiray, it ,wa,s decided that JVIr Cross be informed that the road is to all intents and purposes a, -ptfblic read, a'nd that ainy -steps in. the di-rectioin ef closing the road will he taken at his own risk.
A connm-uliieation (addressed to Cr Kebbel'l) was read from the Eketahuna Town Clerk, a&kintg that two representatives c£ the Council bo «ent to .a meeting to Be held at Elketahuna on Friday, July 12th, to discuss the question of the estabh'shiniofnt of a hospital at Eketahuna.— Received. A communication was received roan the Comftnissaoner of Crown Lands, covering schedules of thirds accrued to April 27th. •
'Mr G. W. Venn ell wrote, asking what steps bad been taken to widen the road leading to his property at "Bairrymore," Bideford.— On the motion, of Or Miller, it was decided to iinform, Mr Veimeil- that application had been made to tthe Government fo'r a. grant of £l5O for the work. The Valuer-General advised that the Masterton County -continuation rolls will be put in ha'nd at once. . Mr W. G. Beard, (solicitor, asked for instructions relating to the purchase of land- at Motu-Wairaka from Mrs Fras'or.— It was decided that Mrs Eraser be asked -o surrender' her lease of the land required for a road.
A copy of the rules of the Maoterton Private Telephone Association was received.
Mr A. C. Major wrote in refeneuoe to the question of the cutting of a hedge in front of his property on the Upper Plain, suggesting that the work should be done by tho Cbunicil.— Left with the representative of the Biding to deal with.
Mr E. Hale, of Lansdowne, directed the attenticci of the Council to the condition of the footpath 'between- Mr Ems' corner and Mi' Holloway'is gate. —The Clerk stated that the Engineer had promised to put down a load or two of meta'l at the tpot indicated.
The 'WLakaitflino Comity Council forwarded" .a re-solution in reference 'to the registration cf dogs.— The Council ■decided to tiupport- the resolui , tion.
The Chief Sunejcr vrrcto in refa - - eaco to the right-of-way through the Tiraumea Estate.— It was decic&ad that the Government ihe asked to deli'ne the right-of-way. Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P., intimated that he would support an application for a Government grant of £SOO for the deviation of the road at the "Devils Elbow."
Mr Arthur Thompson directed attrition to the condition, of Hillard Avenue, in front - cf his property.— Left, in the Jiaiwds of the -representae tive for the Biding to deal with. Mr W. G. Beard forwarded a copy of the iresolutk/n of the M'astcrton Borough Council flu reference to the modification of the northern approach work.
Mr Arthur McKay asked- the Council to raise a loam of £2OO for metalling on the GlendonahKVVairere road. —The Clerk stated that the Cor.-eill could not obtain iiurthei"- loans from the Advances to Settlers' office. The Chief Surveyor returned the plan of the proposed Wainuio-mapu road deviation, for amendment, jyid stated' that as a pontiion of the deviation went through the property of Mr Cbekburn-Hood, this would require to be legalised.— On the motion of Cr Miller, it w:*s' decided that Mr Coekburai.-Hood be written to, and asked if he is prepared to dedicate the road through his property. FINANCE COMMITTEE.

Murray, and R. F. R. Beetham. The Treasurer reported as follows: — Bank, general fund account, dr., £1463 ifis 9d; local bodies loan account, cr'., £-521 2s; accounts, dr. balance £502 8s 6d. Receipts since June 11th, £llß 14s lid. Accounts amounting to £2361 lis 4d were passed for payment. /*
It was decided, in connection with the claim of the Eketahuna Cc/unty Council for £5 for injury done to the Eketahiuiiia-T'imn road by this Council'*.' auaiiiteaian.ee contractors, that this Cotinicil sees no reason to depart from the terms of its complication to thiait body, dated May 16th last, in which it is set forth thai any use of the portion of the Ek'etahuna County road'hyHhisOoimci'l for ordinary metil repairs is met by the yearly contribution to the upkeep of the road.
It was (resolved that i't bo an instruction, to the Engineer to report at the next meeing ca' the advisability and cost' o'f forming the portion of the old Castle Hill read, <so as to avoid eras-sing the' Te Hoe stream at thvo different points, and also on, the cost of constructing the iwd bridges, and that Messrs Kebbel'l rind ethers, who have signed a memorial requesting the Council to -raise a lcau for the

Board has decided that a limit of. £o9oo is placed on the isinn which can ho advaiuced by way of loane to onelocal bcdy„ and that a« the Council' had already borrowed £-1950 from that Department, any further loans must be raised in tho open market.
