COMMANDER OF THE TERRA NOVA.

CHiRiISTCHUiRCiH, Last Night. 'Now® :of 'Lieut. ,Evans, second in command of .the British Antarctic Expedition, a'nd under whoise command the Terra Nova was ibrought back to Lyttelton, was received by calble yesterday fey Ma- T. W Hufisell,, of Oliri&tchurch. According to the cable message, Lieut. Evans ;was recently directed to' attend upon His Majesty the OKing at Buckingham Palace, to givie an account of the expedition to the extent of his. knowledge of it. Subsequently Lieutenant Evans was promoted to the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy. It is understood that Commander Evans is the youngest holder of that rank in the British Navy.
