THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

"ROMEO AND JULIET."

The production rwas excellent in all inspects, being one ,df Faithe Firere's best specimens of- ' coloured The acting was clever . a ; nd the staging extremely effectiveThe details were well .attended ito, and Shakespeare's well told love story lost nothing in its pictorial representation at the hands of Messrs.' Thompson and iPayne. "Forgotten" ivas ■one of the most powerful 'draimas yet exhibited i,n Masterton, the acting of the poor neglected girl being responsible for many eyes being dimmed, with tears of isyrapathy. The portly oldi gentle-man ;who is pitch a popular man at all picture shows took a (prominent part ira a very amusing comedy entitled "Runny and the Twins."

The awkward predicaments he so frequently found himself in caused many .^ouithurpte. of hearty 'laughter. v "The Angel of the Slums" wars also a fine production, the chief actress winning the golden opinions of imany admirers in iier 'work of ,self-sacrifice in the •cause of charity. "Round the World in Two Hours" was an instructive ■film which showed many curious peoples in their own 'country surrounded with. their natural environment. The film was evidently taken at the "White City" ini London, and included photographs of many uncommon and peculiar animals of to-day, in addition to representations in plaster of monsters of prehistoric times. "The Chinese Absolum" was a very clever turn. 'by em acrobatic gentleman rfrom the East. His performance included an act in which he hung "by his hair for many minutes, swinging in midair, and robing and disrobing as easily and) imore quickly than (most people could on the floor. Miss Harriet Quiuiiby, the lady aviator, who was Mled at Boston last Wednesday while , performing her daring . feats, was brought on her aeroplane right before the eyes of the large audieucei, who were not slow to .show their appreciation of that young lady's dairing in iflying the English Channel. An Ainimalted Gazetto contained many interesting items cif inew,s and instruction. The [best number among the exceptionally strong combination iof comic (films was a representation of a .battle royal in "Hogan's Alley," in which the chief cause of trouble were "other people's children..'' The production is undoubtedly the best humorous film yet screened, from the Edison factory, and should ibe seen by «,11 picture lovers. "Tweedledum the Extortioner"' was also a diverting film. All the above pictures are to 3>e screened to-night and to-morrow evening, .at the Foresters' Hall.
