Lord Rosebcry, in opening the Congress of the Universities of the Empire, said the Empire was bolted round \ with universities. - Each part of the ' Empire bad its own problems, parliaments, and nrrn'-ri ••I'i-ic.T. but all looked io the univcir-iiies to supply honourable, incorruptible, strenuous men. He boned the congress would result in the finding of a permanent channel for inter-communication that might result in the solving of those pro. blems. The congress debated the question of the specialisation by universities of post-graduate study: ; Professor Allen, of Melbourne, rfrgod that Homo universities should modify their regulations and assist colonial graduates desiring to continue their research in Britain. The Government entertained at luncheon at the Savoy Hotel delegates I to the congress. Many notables Merc present.
