A -fortnight ago an. inquiry was held by the Bmu'ty IBay Rugby Union coacornkeg a.n offer which Kaipaira, the well-known Gkhorne Rugby player, Iliad received to join the New Zealand 'Rugby League's team, which is now in Australia. In his explanation to the Poverty Bay Union, Ivaipa.ra, who did mat 'accept the offer ,yaid that the 'first letibeir he .received suggesting that ! h.e should join the team -was from "Jack" Ha'U, the Auok.knd Rugby representative wing forward. .When Kaipara's statement was published, Ball em,phaticai!-ly denied having .written, or authorised, the letter. •A (special .meeting 0f the' management committee ctf the Auckland ißugfey Unlioii was held to-niglit, to eorasidei' the (matter.. A Jong discussion- ensued, and ailitimaltely the .committee .amdmimiouisly resolved that "having heard Mrd Hall's statement, land having seen! documentary evidence, this committee sympathises with Mr Hall in. the unfortunate poisikiJani in iwhddh he has been placed, 'and expresses ithe opinion/ that Mr HaM' had no connection 1 .with the writing of the letter signed "Jack, Hall," ■and received (by Kaipara. The commitfiee also decided to place the tnatter in the hands .of their .solicitors, to take isuch action! >a.s they deem necessary to thoroughly vindicate Mr Hall's .character in coninee'tion with the [matter.
