(By Telegraph — Tress Association.)
DUNEDIN,.Last Night
The Dunedin Edueation Board this morning resolved that the. Board is in complete accord with the Southland Board as to the pressing need of the: adoption of.some effective means of removing the existing scarcity of fully qualified teachers, in-order that the efficiency of country schools may he maintained and improved; but while freely admitting that the suggestion made to that end is worthy of consideration, the Board is of the opinion that the requirements of the case could be better met by making provision for the training of a large number of teachers within the minion until such time as the present demand is met. The Board believe the ultimate result of the pursuance of such a course would prove more satisfactory, inasmuch as teachers would be specially trained to meet the exigencies or the Dominion.
