DAMAGING FIRE.
THREE HOUSES DESTROYED. . WELLINGTON, Laiit Night. ■At an early hour this morning, three dwelling-houses in. Sutherland , ißoacl, Lyall Bay, and their conitenlbs . wore destroyed ,by fire. The fire originated in a' fire-roomied cottage occupied by Messrs P. McO'oll, R. Morton, and F. Furrell, who had left some cMfhes drying in front of the griite. The house' was owned by j Jamiiee JVlcßain, and , was iinsured in ' (the Phjoen.ix Office fo'r £3CO. The | conter.itjs were insured in. another I office for £l£fl. The .second house, j of 'six rccn:e,, burned down 'ivas occupied and owned by Mirs Agii-ets Mc-/ Bain., arjcl was insured i:3ii the State office for £4CO. The .sa'me office akio held a riek of £l5O en the contenlts. Tho -third- house, of 'lve iroonls, destroyed, was own.cdi by Messrs Mairdock and WlalJace, and was' occupied , by Mr Charles M. Jenkins. The i building was insured in the South British Company fcir £4OO. Thtere was no iinOTrainiCiO V>n the cont<?Kts.
