AN ALLEGED INFRACTION. In the /Magistrate's Court at 'Mastterton yesterday, F. U. Moore,"Countty Cl'erk, prtfeedded against William iWhite for driving a four-wheeled ibiiuke,, the tyres of the wheals of dvhich were less tfrah 3-i inches in r.vidth„ and drawn by five horses, contrary to the by-laws iof the Mas'terton County Coulacil. The Clerk of the Court stated that be had (received a verbal mesage:' from White, admitting the offence. : Mr Held said tha't he could not (take this pfe'a a.s an admission of guilt. Some evidence iriust he 6-ub-Imitted by the County Council as to the offence having been committed. Mi- Moore stated that on the under,'stianding that the. ofre'nce would be admitted he had requested the. Council's ■roadmtfn., who reported the cftfenee, not to. attend. Mir* Reid said that he must have some evidence ikfore he" could eonvict. Mi- Modre thereupon asked for an adjournment (till the next -sitting of the Court, which wa>s granted.
