CAMBRIDGE, Last Night
A local tradesman mamed Thos. F% 'Richards was fined £1 and £1 Its costs at the Cambridge Court to-day for using abusive language towards the Mayor,, Mr G. Dickenson.
Richards wanted ai license ifor a new hall for picture entertainments, but the; Borough Council withheld the license pending legal requirements. Thinking that the Council did not wiajnit tan opposition hall to their Town Hall, Richardis swore at the Majyor in' the street.
Th'e Mayor explained that it was not a vindictive action, ,but simply to protect IrimseJf in his public capacity. The Magistrate remarked that public men required to be protected.
