Heavy i*ii:ii iia-- taiii.-:i dui'ing the week, ai'.cl al present there is no prospect of the weather clearing. Owing to the continuous wet, the roads throughout the district are in a. very soft, state, and in some parts are badly in need .of metal.
Wild pigeons are reported to be fairly plentiful on the lower hush hills, and in several cases s'hootists have onjoyed good sport. ' On Thursday evening the Dance As-
sembly held their "long night" dance. Owing to the inclement weather, the attendance was lower than usual, hut those who braved the elements in order to attend spent a very enjoyable evening. The floor was all that could be desired, and the music, which was supplied by Miss Tuckwell, of Hamua, was thoroughly appreciated by the dancers. Extras were played bv Miss V. Faulkner, Miss K. Lozell, and Mr A. Madsen. Miss Faulkner and Miss G. Faulkner are spending a few weeks' holiday in tho Hawke's Bay district. Mrs .Daniell, of Palmerston, is at present on a visit to Iter daughtei, Mis Pallant. , Mrs Herbert Ren all has returned from a lengthy holiday spent with friends in the Wairarapa.
