Mr Edward Pragnell, Secretary of the-.Masterton Fire Brigade, has made formal application for the twenty-five Tears' service gold star provided by iho United Fire Brigade Association. The death occurred at her home, "Newstead," Featherston, yesterday .morning, of Mrs Ann Monckton, relict <of the late ..Mr-Frederick Monckton'. whose death took place three years ago. Mansfield, formerly Town Clerk and Engineer of Masterton, but Oatterly engineer at Wanganrui, last night".tendered 'his resignation as engineer to the Wa.nga.nui Borough Council. The resignation was accepted, and as a mark of appreciation of his work, the Council granted him six months' salary.
