CARTERTON. There were five ihir'ths, one marriage and four deaths registered in Carterton during the month of May. | Two tondeife were received for the appropriation hy sale of £3OO in conaietition with the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society. .Mr W. IKobanson'is (Olareville) tender cf £22 far '£lso was accepted, and Mr B. Yelv<er ton's (Feat-heflston) Render at £2l 5s Ifor the remaining £l5O was also accepted. It was also decided to accord ihim the night of' acquiring the next '£lso the Siociefy lia.'S 1 for disposal. A compliimeititary social is to -be tendered Mr ,W. C. Buchanan, M.P., on Tuesday, June 11th, by the settlers of Tafratahi and 1 Oarrington. A splendid programme is being arranged foi' the purpose, and the chair will he occupied by Mr W. Perry, dhaiirman. of the Wai:* I .;rapa South County Council. -Messrs W. F. Bairstow and W. B. Allen are secretaries to the movement.
