LOCAL BODIES BILL
MODERATE AND THOROUGH

AUCKLAND, Last Night. At a social to the Hon. A. ■M. Myers at Manurewa on Saturday evening, there were present .Mr Massey and the Hons. Russell, Macdonald, and Ell, together with a number ov members of Parliament. The proceedings were most enthusiastic. During the evening mention was made of the .Local Government Bill by fhe Hon. G. W. R-cssell. The Minister said the Bill would be ready for presentation when Parliament met. "It will/' he said, "be so moderate auul thorough in its provisions, and so thoroughly sensible, that even Mr Massev will ■agree, that it should be considered be- ; for ;the parties comq to grips. It will
remove all questions of corruption and bribery, because local bodies will be given an. absolutely assured finance, ■and Parliament will.be relieved of ap- , plication*? for grants for roads and bridges. ■
