LINER AFIRE
GREAT DAMAGE DONE HEROIC FIREMEN. (Received Lust Night," 9.25 o'clock.) LONDON, .Juno 3. A fire occurred aboard tho Cunaid liner Carman ia (19,024 loiis), vnich wns docked at Liverpool. It is believed the lire commenced io •the coal bankers. The vessel was gravely imperilled. Despite a rumour that there were three thousand barrels of oil .aboard, the firemen, and police fearlessly used their'hoses. The wator poured into the vessel caused, r, .heavy list. . The fire burnt foi' three hours before being extinguished. Tho upper decks were completely wrecked, and the saloons destroyed.
The Carrcttnia. was built in 1905. 'She is (|soft .in' length, and has a .speed of 18 knots.
